MATTHEW AUBIN is the Conductor of the Hartt Symphony Band, Associate Conductor of the Hartt Contemporary Players Ensemble and an Adjunct Professor of Conducting and Music Education at the Hartt School of Music.

Prior to his appointment at the Hartt School, Mr. Aubin was a full-time doctoral student at the Hartt School. As a conducting student he shared the podium with renowned conductors Frank Battisti and H. Robert Reynolds and performed works by faculty composers from the Hartt School. In addition, Mr. Aubin aided in the production of the Hartt Wind Ensemble's first compact disc and he presented clinics at the 2008 Connecticut Music Educators Conference and visited several local schools as a guest clinician.

Mr. Aubin moves easily amongst his diverse musical pursuits, which, in addition to conducting orchestras and wind ensembles, include performing the French horn professionally, and teaching music education courses and marching band. Recently, Mr. Aubin had the chance to showcase both his conducting and playing when he was asked by his peers to lead a massed professional French horn choir concert to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Connecticut chapter. He was also selected to be the guest conductor of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in thirteen interactive and educational performances entitled 'Music Tells A Story' as part of its Symphony In The Schools program.

Before pursuing doctoral studies full time, Mr. Aubin was the Director of Instrumental Music at the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, Connecticut. While at N.F.A. Mr. Aubin had many prestigious musicians clinic his ensembles. Among the many guest artists, composer Michael Daugherty visited in the spring of 2005 and jazz trumpet performer/composer Wynton Marsalis visited in the fall of 2005.
